DISNEY FAQ’s

What are the dates for Disney?

We will be leaving around 10:15am on Friday, March 26rd and returning on Thursday, April 1st around (3:00ish).
The Marching band will perform on Sunday evening, March 28th.  The complete itinerary can be found (above) on the www.bereabandboosters.com web site and in the band room.  Time of arrival back home on Thursday will be posted on the BHS website by 1:00 that day.

Will I need to call the school to report that my marcher will be absent on Friday?

No, the directors are taking care of that. The students will be listed as "on a field trip" that day.

Does my marcher need any extra money for the trip?

The $600 Disney fee provides most meals for our marchers and chaperones.  A complete dinner is provided with the Dinner Ticket, and $5 is provided for breakfast and lunch each day.

Marchers WILL NEED TO BRING:

1.) A packed lunch for the day that we leave

2.) Money for dinner on the way home from Orlando

3.) We will be in Disney, so additional money might be needed to supplement the $5 allowance for breakfast/lunch or to buy snacks or souvenirs. The amount is up to you. Marchers are responsible for any additional money brought on the trip.

What should my marcher bring/wear on the bus?

Marchers should dress warmly on the bus.  We recommend that they wear a short sleeved shirt and shorts under a hoodie and sweatpants.  Remember, we will be going DIRECTLY to the park once we get to Disney, so wear/bring clothes that are appropriate for warm weather, too!

Small blankets and pillows are also a good idea.  Marchers can also bring water and snacks, but we HIGHLY recommend that they do not share these food items. We had a flu outbreak due to food sharing during a past Disney trip and some marchers missed the Disney performance!

What should my marcher pack for Disney & The Blizzard Beach Water Park?

Marchers are permitted one suitcase (max size 28") and one carry-on.  PACK LIGHT, we'll be gone 7 days not 7 weeks.  Temperatures should be in the 70's-80's during the day, but will drop considerably at night.  Bring an all weather jacket for the evening. Layers will work well.  Comfortable walking shoes are a must and are highly recommended for days at the park.  If bringing flip-flops, include a back up pair. Students will have free time at the hotel and we will also be visiting a water park so remember to pack a swimsuit!  Label everything!   Students will be responsible to carry their own  luggage, carry-on, etc.   Band t-shirts will be worn on Sunday before the parade. SUNSCREEN IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!  You do not want to be miserable the rest of the trip because you burned on the 1st day!

FYI for  Blizzard Beach Water Park

We recommend wearing one-piece swimsuits on the more thrilling attractions, including Humunga Kowabunga at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Summit Plummet at Disney's Blizzard Beach.

In addition, swim attire with rivets, buckles or exposed metal is not permitted on the attractions.

Lockers & towels  are available for rent.

Bring water shoes when visiting the Water Parks. The ground can get hot and so will your feet!

Inner tube usage is included with admission in each Water Park.

Is there a dress code for Marchers?

Clothes need to be neat and clean.  Remember, the entire time we are at Disney, we are representing our school and community.  No cut-offs or shirts with questionable advertising or profanity will be permitted.  Clean and neat jeans are acceptable.

How many chaperones are there?   What is the chaperone:marcher ratio?

We have 11 male chaperones and 12 female chaperones going on the Disney trip.  All chaperones have had their backgrounds checked and have been fingerprinted by the Berea Board of Education.   The average chaperone to marcher ratio is 8:1.

What meals are included in the cost ($600) for the Disney trip?

Marchers and Chaperones will receive money or tickets towards 18 meals

For $600 dollars, marchers and chaperones will receive:

1 -Breakfast Buffet upon arrival in Florida

11 -$5 meal allowances

1 -$10 meal allowance

4 -$12 Meal Tickets

Can my marcher stay with my family for extra vacation time after the band trip if over?

Of course!   You may take your child at anytime after we march on Sunday as long as they remain with you for the rest of the trip. You will need to complete and return a release form by March 12th. Mr. Fudale will then contact the parents to review the procedures for their son/daughter’s release from the trip.

A parent may sign a student out the day of our departure, Wednesday March 31 at either 2 locations:

9:00 am - All Star Movie Resort

6:00 pm - Animal Kingdom Theme Park (main gate)

If a marcher is picked up that morning they will receive their meal allowances & dinner ticket for that day, plus their $10 meal allowance for Thursday.  If a marcher is picked up that evening, they will have their $10 meal allowance for Thursday.  These moneys/tickets will be distributed to them on Wednesday morning.

Will there be any medical supervision on this trip?

Yes, we will have 2 nurses on staff for the entire trip, including the bus rides.  Marcher should notify their chaperone of any illness.

What if my marcher needs to take prescription medication?

All meds must be dispensed by a nurse.  Proper forms and meds in plastic bags with the marcher's name clearly marked must be given to the nurse before departure. Instruct your child to locate the nurse each day/time they are to receive medication. (Nurses will be at a central location to disperse medications.  Your child must speak to a nurse to make any special arrangements)

Can I visit with my marcher while we're at Disney, say for Lunch/ Dinner?

Sure, but it must be within the park we are visiting that day.   You and your marcher are responsible for the meeting place and time.  You should make sure that they are not walking alone when meeting you, and that they are not alone when walking to rejoin their group/friends.  Most marchers prefer to stay with the group while at Disney. They enjoy this "independent" experience. If you choose to meet your marcher for a meal, ALL marchers must be at ALL check-in points, so please be aware of those times.

What are the marcher behavior guidelines for this trip?

All school rules apply regarding smoking, alcohol, etc.  Violators will be dealt with by the administration upon their return to school.  Students will be sent home at the parent/guardian's expense if a violation of school policy (drugs, alcohol, smoking, theft, vandalism, etc.) occurs.  This rule is strictly enforced!

When is the band marching? Where would be the best place to view their performance?

The band is marching down Main Street on Sunday, March 25th at 7:30pm.  We recommend that you find a place along the parade stop early, as this tends to get pretty crowded. We'll have a map of the parade route on the web shortly.

Is my marcher permitted to bring a cell phone or other electronic devices?

Yes, your marcher is permitted to bring cell phones, mp3 players, hand-held game systems, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: They are responsible for these items if they are lost or stolen.

What is the phone number for Disney?

The All-Star Movie Resort Hotel phone number is: (407) 939-7000.

FYI:  Drivers have rest stops and we switch drivers as outlined in the itinerary.
